Affordable Housing

As a City, we can be proud of the Surel Mitchell Live-Work-Create District which boasts smaller, affordable living for startup businesses; and the NeighborWorks projects that also provide workforce housing options. As property values continue to rise, the Council must advocate for, and be receptive to, new development. The Council must ensure that developers follow due process and that the citizenry is encouraged to engage meaningfully in the public hearings. Finally, the Council must remain open-minded and sensitive to modification of code or creating new codes when it is the best interests of the City.

Growth

Garden City is vibrant and has exciting development projects that have been approved and more that are being contemplated. Development must comply with the citizen-developed, Comprehensive Plan. The unprecedented growth demands that service levels are maintained for existing businesses and residents while supporting new growth.

Safety

Garden City enjoys the highest police officer to resident ratio in the Treasure Valley, response times below ten minutes, and a highly engaged police force. Ensuring that the City retains the great talent within the force and maintains these critical service levels for the benefit of the citizenry is paramount.
